This drama is based on the true story of cocaine dealer George Jung, who played an integral role in importing cocaine into the USA in the 1970s. It tells the story of the drug dealer's life, from his early childhood in a blue-collar family in New England to his move to California and introduction to marijuana. It portrays the dangerous reality of a drug smuggler's life. The MPAA rates this film "R" for pervasive drug content and language, violence and sexuality. Cocaine use is shown repeatedly, as well as the use of marijuana, cigarettes, alcohol and firearms. One man is shot in the head at point-blank range. Another man survives a gunshot wound to the chest. A childbirth is shown on the screen. The effects of cocaine use and withdrawal are also shown on-screen. A series of sexual encounters involving the drug dealer and the woman he's dating flash in rapid succession on the screen. The language is strong throughout the film. A woman is slapped in the face during an argument. A pregnant woman is seen using cocaine and drinking alcohol.
