MovieDescription: THE LAST AIRBENDER Cast: Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone, Shaun Toub. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan. In this film based on the cartoon series, natural forces of air, water, earth and fire are represented by tribes. Humans with super powers, called benders, are able to manipulate their natural element and use it as a weapon. The world is at war because the elements have gotten out of balance. The MPAA has rated this film PG for fantasy action violence. Numerous scenes of tense and graphic high action violence pervade this film. Characters, including children, fight using street-style and karate-style fighting. Natural elements are manipulated and used as weapons. Fire is thrown at individuals to burn and kill. Rocks and earth are thrown as weapons. Characters are pushed back by air and entrapped in water, as well as frozen. Many battle scenes result in mass carnage. One scene shows a field filled with skeletal remains after an act of genocide. Characters use bombs, explosives, spears, swords, axes and knives to harm and kill. Artillery equipment such as tanks, battleships, and canons are used to launch attacks. Corpses, bloodshed and decapitated bodies are shown. Spirit guides are depicted as a dragon and fish. In one scene a man kills the moon spirit, in the form of a koi fish, to gain control in battle but a girl sacrifices her own life to give it back to the spirit and restore natural balance. Reincarnation is presented as real. Plot development and dialogue take a strong pro-environmentalism stance, pitting machines as the enemy of the natural world. The film contains no profanity or offensive language.
