MovieDescription: KARATE KID Cast: Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan. Directed by Harald Zwart. This remake has a young American boy and his mother moving to China. Once there the boy has to adjust to the culture shock as well as to a gang of mean, martial-arts-trained boys. A kindly maintenance man agrees to help him learn kung fu in order to fight the boys in a tournament. The MPAA rates the film PG for bullying, martial arts action violence and some mild language. Middle school aged children are threatened and tormented in school. The torment turns to violence with a gang of boys beating a child on several occasions. A ruthless martial arts teacher slaps the face of one of his pupils for not being ruthless enough in a competition. A full contact martial arts tournament occurs with middle school children fighting with no pads and very few rules. Illegal and vicious beatings are delivered to some children with an adult referee intervening only at the last minute. A 12-year-old boy uses mild language on several occasions. Some mild profanity is also used in the film. An adult drinks to the point of intoxication.
