After seeing his parents murdered, a boy sets out to bring law and order to Gotham City. When older, he invents an alter ego based on the bats that bring him nightmares to terrify the criminals he hunts. The MPAA rates the film PG-13 for intense action violence, disturbing images and some thematic elements. Intense hand-to-hand combat and swordplay are frequently seen in this film. People are cut and stabbed with swords and knives, though little blood is seen. Beatings result in bloodied noses and mouths. Handguns and machineguns are fired resulting in people falling and left presumably dead. A boy's parents are gunned down and die at his feet. Hallucinogenic drugs are administered voluntarily and involuntarily, causing people to see their worst fears. Alcohol is consumed in the film and a main character appears drunk. Some mild language and profanity is heard. There is no nudity in the film. Police officers, business leaders, and politicians are shown mostly as corrupt.
