MovieDescription: ALICE IN WONDERLAND Cast: Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover. Directed by Tim Burton. Based on the book, a young woman named Alice flees an unwanted marriage proposal and falls down the proverbial rabbit hole to return to a magical land she calls Wonderland. She encounters friends who recognize her more than she remembers them. The MPAA has rated this film PG for thematic elements and violence. The film contains numerous scenes of strong action violence. Characters are chased by various ferocious monsters. A toothsome creature and army of card soldiers fight and chase a young woman, and the beast seriously injures her arm in the pursuit. The young woman encounters a dragon who sets fire to an outdoor tea party. The young woman escapes, but her friend is taken prisoner and she sets off through an eerie forest to find him at the home of the evil red queen. The queens preferred method of punishment is decapitation and the young woman must cross a moat filled with floating dead heads to reach the castle. The woman learns that she must capture a sword to be used to slay another beast and free the land from the tyranny of the queen. Two characters narrowly escape execution by beheading. Several battle scenes include sword fighting, spears, catapults and hand-to-hand combat. A young woman fights, injures and eventually graphically beheads a fierce beast. The film depicts a character smoking from an exotic pipe. A young woman must consume enchanted food items to reduce and increase her physical size as needed. There is no profanity used, but one brief mention of a mildly objectionable word is included. There is no nudity in the film.
