A legendary lion-like Pokemon comes to protect her and serve as her father. The Spell of the Unknown is unleashed from a box of tiles with special letters and symbols. This force creates crystal formations that threaten to cut off the young girl and her Pokemon friend from the outside world. The MPAA rates this film "G". There are situations that include fire-fighting creatures that have supernatural powers and the psychic energy of the Unknown. One of the boys' mothers is captured and taken to the girl to make her wish for a mother come true.
