MovieDescription: 102 DALMATIONS Cast: Glenn Close (Cruella De Vil), Gerard Depardieu (Monsieur Le Pelt), Alice Evans (Cloe), Ian Gruffudd (Kevin), Tim McInnerny (Alonso), Tony Robinson Director: Kevin Lima Set in London and Paris, 102 Dalmations is the sequel to the movie based on the novel, 101 Dalmations. This installment is all about second chances and how people-and dogs-use them. Much of the story centers around the perennial villainess, Cruella DeVil, who gets her own second chance when she is granted parole from prison. As a result of her rehabilitation, the "reformed," Cruella, or Ella as she is now known, partners with the owner of a dog shelter in the cause for animal rights, until one day when her true spots begin to show! Her obsession with fur coats, particularly one made of Dalmation fur, drives her to dognapping again. The MPAA rates this film "G" for General Audiences. Despite an extended chase scene near the end of the movie, few, if any scenes might be considered frightening even to the youngest viewers. In one scene, Cruella kicks someone she is ordering around and tells him to find a puppy and kill it. A luggage cart rolls over a man's hands, but this is done in comedic surroundings. During a chase scene, a puppy falls on to train tracks but is quickly rescued. A main character holds up a large knife and engages in brief talk of "suffocating and skinning." Adults will understand the meaning of this dialogue, but it is carefully worded not to alarm young viewers. If there is a moral to this story with a happy ending, it is that lots of people get second chances, but not everyone uses them wisely. In the end, Cruella and her evil partner receive consequences for their bad choices and are sent back to jail.
